It’s coming. Rather than hide, prepare for Mercury retrograde, which will happen from January 30-February 21 of this year.
Whether intentional or not, I noticed that major shops launch enticing deals or red tag sale during Merc Retro. And since Mercury concerns the mind, when it is in retrograde or appears to be in backward motion, it affects clear thinking and decision making. Hence, impulse buying is common, which is a no-no, especially if it’s a major purchase.
This was what happened to a friend of mine, who bought a brand new car during a retrograde. The car was always at the repair shop. She wasn’t aware of the phenomenon. Eventually, she sold the car, problem solved.
Personally, whenever we have major purchases at home or for our business, we always check the Astro Calendar to ensure that we won’t make the same mistake.
Finally, four years after we started our biz, we were fortunate to buy a brand new chiller for our cakes. We chose December 11 as it was a recommended day to buy large machines. It was right on time for our busiest season.
If you have the habit of buying on a whim, my practical tip is to delete shopping applications from your phone before January 30 to avoid unnecessary purchases.
Merc Retro may have gained notoriety but rather than fear it, face it. It is a time to relax, slow down, and reflect. If there’s something MAJOR that you need to do, postpone it until Mercury turns direct.
But sometimes there are things that are beyond one’s control—like giving birth.
Mercury was in retrograde when my daughter chose to come out of this world.
No matter how prepared I thought I was, there were things that didn’t go as planned.
We just let go and let God. Two years after, we now have a very talkative and smart little girl. She’s a beautiful reminder that there’s always a silver lining.
